How did you and your fiance meet?: We met while living in the same condo building in July 2008. We would run into each other and said ‘hello’. One day, Troy gave me a shirt for Buddha, my dog that was just a puppy at the time and I thought it was such a nice thing since he did not even know me. Then in October 2008, Troy decided to knock on my door and asked if we could maybe hang out sometime. I said sure and that’s how our love story started.
Tell us about the proposal: Well, Troy was very adamant about making sure I was surprised and off guard when it was time to propose. He did not want to do it on any special occasions, holidays or birthdays. In August 2011, we went on vacation with my best friend and her husband to St. Maarten. During our time in beautiful St. Maarten, my BFF, her husband, Troy and myself decided to go shopping and decided to go to the jewelry store that one of the vacationers at our hotel told us to go to, because that’s where he gets all of his wife’s diamonds. We left without a ring, but somehow Troy, my BFF and her husband, managed to pull one over on me without me knowing anything happened. Troy had the engagement ring for 8 months and I had no clue whatsoever. While I was traveling in the 2nd week of January, my friends planned a bowling belated birthday party for me at Mustang Alley in Downtown Baltimore on January 14th, 2012. All of our friends and my brother and his wife were there. Before the last round of bowling everyone wanted to see me open all of my gifts, which I thought was embarrassing considering my friends and I never did that before, but I just followed direction. The last gift that I thought was from my BFF, since she was the one who brought it with her, turned out to be from Troy and Buddha. When I opened the gift, it was the Louis Vuitton tote bag I wanted and a photo book that was put together by Troy with pictures from our first year together to the recent New Year’s Eve 2012. When I saw the photo book, I started tearing up because I never had anyone put so much heart and soul into creating something so special for me. As I was looking through the book, poor Troy was on his knees for at least 10 minutes because I was going through the book so slow, but eventually saw that the pages towards the end had spelled out “Will you marry me?” I turned around and I just started to cry and eventually said “YES”. It was one of the best nights of our lives and we look forward to many more.
What is the overall theme of your wedding?: Vintage with a touch of modern. My wonderful planner suggested Pinterest, which has helped me plan our wedding. I have created a lot of DIY for our wedding. Some of the items I created are tin cans with a vintage twist for our centerpieces, picture frames for the church with our initials wrapped with yarn, and our window seating chart that will be decorated with moss and greenery. I can’t wait to see all of these items come together.
What has been your favorite part of planning?: Being able to have my mom go through this process with me and to finally see the months of planning come together. I was able to find my creativity and crafty side that I never knew I had.
What has been your fiance’s favorite part of the planning?: Spending extra time with my fiancee, planning the wedding together has been splendid!
What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Being Mrs. Anthony Troy and having him see me for the first time in my wedding dress. I am also looking forward to my mother/daughter dance and just having fun with our family and friends.
What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Excited about seeing Latda walk down the aisle in her wedding dress and seeing how beautiful she will look. Becoming a family and having our two families become one and sharing this wonderful day with all of our loved ones who have traveled from close or from far away.
Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: All of my vendors have been fantastic to work with and we are so happy & glad they will all be a part of our special day. Through the whole planning process I have worked more with Erin Proud and to see her excitement and enthusiastic attitude, whenever we would meet or talk, just puts my mind at ease.
What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: No worries because I have the best wedding planner and her sidekicks with us on our special day 🙂
What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: I would say what makes our wedding unique, is the details we have put into all aspects of the wedding from the window seating chart and centerpieces, to the letters that will be hanging on the church’s front door. We wanted to make sure that each detail would represent both of us.
Give three words to describe what you imagine you’ll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Ready, Relieved, Happy & Excited
Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Well, after our November 3rd wedding, we will be preparing for our 2nd wedding, which is a Thai ceremony on November 10th. We will go on our honeymoon next summer when Troy is done with teaching. We haven’t decided yet on where we would like to go, but definitely somewhere with clear blue water and free flowing frozen drinks 🙂
Anything else you’d like to share?: We would like to thank our families and friends for their love and support as we take this journey together. We would also like to thank Erin Proud and her team for being there and helping us with this process and all the other vendors who will make our wedding day special for us. Thanks so much for your help.
