Are you and your fiance looking for alternative wedding registry ideas? Do you want a registry that is a little more creative? Perhaps you already live together and have most items that would be found on a typical store registry. Or perhaps you are in the process of combining two households and truly don’t need any more items. Below are some new and unique ideas if you are looking for something unique.
Honeymoon Fund
One option that is becoming increasingly popular is a honeymoon fund. With all the expenses that come with planning a wedding, sometimes there are just not enough funds to cover that dream honeymoon. There a few different versions of this idea. One option is a Honeyfund.
With this website, couples can create their own fund and have their guests contribute money towards their honeymoon. The site has some great features, including estimating the cost of your dream trip.
Another option is to work with a travel agent and discuss what your dream trip would look like. For example, if you were planning a trip to Greece, what types of excursions would you like to take, what hotels you would like to visit, upgrades that would make make your trip better, etc. Your registry can list out these different items and your guests would prefer to get the couple a gift, as opposed to just giving money. It adds a personal touch.
A New Car!
One of the most unique ideas out there is Chrysler’s new “Dodge Dart Registry“. Here, couples can customize their car with the features that they want, including color, powertrain options, exterior and interior options. It is an opportunity to truly customize their vehicle. Once the registry is created, guests can sponsor different parts of the car.
Then, the couple just has to go to the dealership to pick it up! Depending on the cost of your car and the number of guests contributing, you may not get your entire car covered, but it would be a great start! Also, what a great way to remember your wedding every time you drive your new car!
Charity
An amazing alternative to the typical wedding registry is to set up an online registry for charity. The “I Do Foundation” makes this incredibly easy with their website. The couple can choose charities that are important to them and ask that guests make donations instead of giving them monetary gifts. This would be a wonderful way to honor a loved one who has passed away or to give back to those less fortunate. The website also offers favors that could be used as a thank you for the contributions.
The important thing to remember is that your registry can be a reflection of you as a couple. Think about what is important to the two of you. It is another opportunity to be creative in the wedding planning process.
