Photobooths are a fun way for your guests to express themselves, as well as create a keepsake from your special day. And when it comes to photobooths, there are a number of options. You can rent one, your photographer may offer a version of a “photobooth”, or if you don’t have room in your budget for that, you can create your own.
Take some time to research the different types of photobooths and what is offered with each. Some companies offer one or two printouts of each group of photos taken, and some can do unlimited copies. Some companies offer a more typical photobooth, while others offer, a larger more spacious “booth” created by curtains, instead of walls.
Many photographers are offering a type of photobooth package where they’ll set up a backdrop, or a space at your reception where guests can take pictures like they would at a photobooth. One of the differences with this option is that some photographers do have a printer setup, so guests can enjoy their photos immediately, but some do not, and you and your guests will be able to see the images from the photobooth after the wedding, once they’re uploaded. So instead of a photostrip, you’ll have individual photos.
If you like the idea of a photobooth but don’t have the budget for a typical one, create your own! Depending on your venue, there may be a spot you can use with a great backdrop, or solid wall. If not, consider getting some fabric, some decorative paper, or even a pretty sheet for a backdrop.

Whichever way you go, don’t forget about the props! Oversized empty frames can be fun- they’re a great way to “frame” the picture, especially when doing your own photobooth. Hats, headbands, glasses, and boas are always fun too. And recently we’ve been seeing a lot of mustaches; both stick on ones and some attached to sticks. Another cute idea is to have a couple of small chalkboards and some chalk so guests can write messages to use in their pictures.

Whatever type of photobooth you choose, it will surely be a great addition to your reception. Your guests will love it, and you’ll love the moments it captures.
